Healing Determination

I struggled with a persistent health problem since I was a child, which threatened to ruin my plans for higher study. I not only had to deal with the difficulties that came with being a first-generation Argentinian-American, but also that of having a chronic illness. There were moments when I felt utterly defeated.

Living with my condition entailed frequent doctor appointments and hospitalizations. It felt like a never-ending loop of anxiety and terror.

But I refused to quit.

I learnt to manage my disease by requesting academic accommodations and made contact with my school’s support services. Throughout it all, my family and Latin-American network of friends from high school were my rock. Their unfailing encouragement and love lifted my spirits during the darkest times. With their support, I found the strength to attend college. If I can do it, you can too!
